Liverpool v Arsenal

Now this is a great game to start the season off! With Chelsea decimating West Brom yesterday and Spurs and Man City failing to win, Liverpool and Arsenal will be dying to get the season off to a great start. So who do we go with? Well i'm going with Liverpool, due to the fact that they have a new manager, the team seems to be rejuvenated and on a high with Gerrard and Torres both confirmed to be staying with Liverpool for another season at least. Arsenal on the other hand have had the whole Fabregas scenario dragged out all summer, with him being told he has to stay. I guess we will see if he plays the same or not!!

Saturday's Terrific Treble!

I love Saturdays - so much football to watch! My first pick today is Torquay, a team I started backing towards the end of last season. With a good start to the current season and going over 15 hours without conceeding a goal in 90 minutes, which is an unbelieveable stat, they are sure to go close today. What is more unbelieveable is that they can still be backed at 13/8 to beat Lincoln with William Hill!!

Notts County is my next value bet today at 12/5. Although they lost 3-0 to Huddersfield on their 1st game of the season, Huddersfield are going to be title challengers so that can be forgiven. Today they face Oldham, a more standard League one side.

My last pick for my treble is Sunderland to beat Birmingham. With England striker Darren Bent scoring 1st 15 times for Sunderland last season, they have a striker of quality standard. I just think they will be too strong for a Brummie side that struggled to score goals last term. Sunderland can be backed at 5/4 with William Hill.

So todays treble is...

Torquay to beat Lincoln 13/8

Notts County to beat Oldham 12/5

Sunderland to beat Birmingham 5/4

£10 bet with William Hill returns £201.20!!

Stevenage v Portsmouth

It's relatively easy to see why Pompey might have trouble in tonights Carling Cup fixture with Stevenage, as they are using trainee's to make up the numbers and named a squad of only 15 players against Coventry on Saturday. Although they lost that game 2-0, I think that Stevenage being 2 divisions lower is a massive difference in quality. The bookies have over reacted to Pompey's current financial plight by over pricing them, and I think Portsmouth have this one in the bag.

Football Betting Tips - Todays £10 Treble Returns £94.95!!

Finally some football to half decent football to watch on the telly!!! With the mild shock of Norwich losing last night against Watford, the football league season gets in full swing today!!

MK Don's have the youngest manager in the football league with Karl Robinson, 29 the man who ahs replaced Paul Ince. I remember a certain Match of The Day pundit saying you couldn't win anything with kids, just before Man Utd began to dominate the Premier League with a yound Scholes, Beckham and Giggs.

Robinson was assistant to Ince last season and has made some sensible signings this season, the most notable being ex-Liverpool man Didi Hamann. Despite a poor run in last season of no wins in 10 matches, I think that MK Dons are hugely underated, and are my 1st pick of the day to beat Walsall away.

Reading finished last season with 12 wins in their final 20 games, which saw them rocket up the table to narrowly missing out on the play-offs. They are definately a Banker to beat relegation candidates Scunthorpe today and are tip number 2.

Newly promoted Leeds, although losing their top striker Jermaine Beckford to Everton still have a squad which should take them to the play-offs this season. With the signing of pacy winger Lloyd Sam from Charlton they have a geniune threat and provider for Luciano Becchio, who had a great last season. Leeds to beat Derby are tip number 3.

So we have :

MK Don's @ 15/8

Reading @ 4/7

Leeds @ 11/10

a £10 treble will returns £94.95! Not bad for a tenner!

Football Betting Tips - Community Shield

The last friendly before the season starts, the Community Shield is rarely taken seriously by managers, the "do or die" attitude replaced by "I hope he doesn't get injured" mentality. As a punter though, there is real opportunity to make some money here. Chelsea v Man Utd have faced each other twice in the last 3 Community Shields, both games resulting in a draw game. With both teams not wanting any injuries, I can see this being another draw, with a best price available from Stan James.

Chelsea v Man Utd = Draw (Stan James 12/5)
